Live music among the rooftops of Ciutat Vella will once again be the highlight of the summer program at Palau Güell. The iconic building, a work by Antoni Gaudí, will once again open its doors to visitors seeking a unique experience on the palace terrace with five sessions of Les Nits del Palau Güell. Nestled in the Raval and just a few meters from La Rambla, the modernist building is guarded by undulating figures emerging from its roof: these are Gaudí's characteristic chimneys, on what was the first rooftop where the architect conceived them as architectural sculptures.

Precisely the presence of multiple chimneys, arranged emulating a colorful trencadís forest on an irregular ground, means that the concerts are held in a space with an unsuspected past. At one end of the terrace and with privileged views, the only flat and clear area of the rooftop will be the stage for Les Nits del Palau Güell, in an area originally intended for the Güell family's service staff to hang clothes.

This service staff probably frequented the rooftop the most while the Güell family resided on the estate, until 1906, and enjoyed the unusual views of the city that can now be contemplated with Les Nits del Palau Güell. A unique landscape surrounds the visitor, with emblematic buildings emerging from a sea of terraces, such as the Cathedral towers and, merging with the sea, the W Hotel.

In each of the five evenings of the cycle, visitors will be able to take a tour of the most prominent spaces of the palace before the concert, commissioned to Gaudí by the industrialist Eusebi Güell at the end of the 19th century. After observing how the architect conceived space and light in the palace and the variety of materials and ornamentations used inside, the rooftop and its design will open to the visitor, before a concert performed by young interpreters from the Taller de Músics del Raval.

The first session will take place on June 27 with the group Camarada Ventura, characterized by electronic, ambient music and jazz. The group, which has released two albums under its previous name, JF Trio, has renewed its identity and released its latest EP, Look Again, in May, with an energetic and fresh style that it will now bring to Palau Güell, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco since 1984.

The following session, scheduled for July 4, will feature the flamenco, jazz and electronic music of pianist Miranda Fernández. Through the fusion of tradition and modernity, the artist will present her work 88-M, focused on the role of women in the history of flamenco. Her performance will pass the baton to young singer-songwriter Au Rora, who will offer her soul, jazz and bossa nova on the Palau rooftop on July 11.

On July 18, Pablo Frías Quartet's jazz will provide the musical note for the evening at the palace, while on July 25, the Alosa duo will do so, intertwining their folk and jazz pieces playing with voices, cello and percussion. With a repertoire ranging from their own compositions to Catalan folklore and jazz standards, the duo will close this cycle of Les Nits del Palau Güell, which is once again shaping up as a unique proposal for the Barcelona summer.
