The Old Estrella Damm Factory opens its doors one more year to celebrate the La Mercè festivities and showcase new talents on September 24 and 25. From 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., number 515 on Roselló street will host the musical proposals of a dozen emerging artists. Once again, the Old Factory becomes one of the main venues for BAM, Barcelona Acció Musical.
The concerts will be held accompanied by a wide gastronomic offer within the venue. In the various local foodtrucks, you can taste the empanadas and milanesas from Chalito, the sandwiches from Casa Pepe, the artisanal pizzas from Pizza Market, the organic and Km0 burgers from Fileteando, the tacos from Chamako, and the battered fresh hake with smoked tempura from The Fish&Chips Shop, as well as the sweet temptations from Santagloria.
The beer pairing sessions, between concerts, offer the opportunity to taste both Estrella Damm and five other of the brewery's specialties ---Bock-Damm, Complot, Inedit, Malquerida, and Voll-Damm---. The proposals from Foodlona, the gastronomic project of chef Miquel Antoja, will accompany the tasting of the four pairing sessions scheduled each day, at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. in the Sala de Bàscules. The activity is free and has a limited number of places.
The program at the Old Estrella Damm Factory will be preceded by the La Mercè Estrella Damm concerts, scheduled for this Friday, September 22, on the Mediterràniament stage, coinciding with the first day of Barcelona's main festival. The performances by BOYE, Ginestà, ZOO, and Vicco will make Bogatell beach vibrate with more than five hours of live music.
The program for September 24 and 25
The performance by Remei de Ca La Fresca will open the festival this Sunday, the 24th, fusing folk and rural electronics. Afterwards, arriving from Madrid, the rrriot-punk of the three members of Aiko El Grupo. In the afternoon, there will be electronic songs performed by the voice of Adelaida and the avant-garde sound of LaFrancesssa's electronic pop.
The first day will close with Nerve Agent, the band of guitarists from Albacete with an electronic sound that fuses punk and makina music, and DJ Bad Legs, one of the exponents of state breakbeat.
The selection from the Barcelona collective Me Siento Extraña will be the first to take the stage on Monday 25, a day that also includes sessions by the Spanish-Venezuelan DJ Verushka, accompanied by visuals from Clara Cortés and the Russian-Danish DJ oqbqbo.
NOIA will perform with her latest album gisela, in which she mixes pop, electronic music, and traditional singing; pablopablo, with his mix of genres combining indie rock, dream pop, or R&B; and Claraguilar fusing sounds and melodies.
The Ukrainian DJ and composer PolyChain will be in charge of closing the La Mercè festivities with an electronic session and an extraordinary variety of polyrhythms and ambient textures.
New smart beer glass
During the celebration of La Mercè at the Old Factory, Filling Good, a smart and reusable beer glass developed by Damm itself, will be tested for the first time. The goal of the glass is to improve the consumer experience by reducing waiting times in queues and maintaining the beer's temperature.
It is a 100% sustainable aluminum and ceramic glass, shaped like a beer barrel, which incorporates a smart device capable of communicating with a reader to quickly and efficiently process payments for drinks. People who want to try this pilot project can rent a Filling Good glass for the price of €2.
The consumer will have to download the Filling Good application and link their credit card to their smart glass to manage payments. From then on, they will be able to pay directly at the bar through the NFC device located at the base of the glass and enjoy a fresh beer from the first to the last sip.
