The New Barcelona Post, the digital newspaper of good news and projection of the Barcelona brand, joins the celebration of the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup with the launch of a cycle dedicated to bringing this emblematic international competition closer to the public, which will be held on the coast of the Catalan capital between next August and October.

Until then, between April and July, we will organize a monthly event at the Antigua Fábrica Estrella Damm focused on explaining and disseminating the most outstanding aspects of this regatta, also known as the Formula 1 of the sea and considered one of the most difficult sporting challenges disputed on the planet. Under the motto Everything you want to know about the America's Cup, in this adventure we will be accompanied as main sponsors by the Port de Barcelona, the Barcelona City Council, Estrella Damm and the Fundació Barcelona Capital Nàutica. The event, which has the participation of America's Cup Event Barcelona, will be open to all our readers and the general public upon ticket reservation. It will also have the collaboration of Giny Comunicació and Must Media, the group to which The New Barcelona Post belongs.

What is the history of the America's Cup sailing race? How did Barcelona manage to bring this international benchmark event to the city? What countries participate in the competition? What is the calendar? What makes this edition different from previous regattas? What technological innovations do the new AC75 boats incorporate? What is the role of the different crew members on board? What role will volunteering play? How will citizens be able to follow the event? What will be the economic impact for the city? What legacy will the America's Cup leave in Barcelona?

The dates

These are just some of the many questions that the cycle will try to answer.Everything you want to know about the Copa América at the hand of the multiple speakers we will invite to participate in the four sessions, scheduled for the daysApril 3, May 15, June 19, and July 17.The speakers will be experts in the different fields surrounding this iconic sporting event, considered one of the three most important in the world in terms of number of spectators, along with the Olympic Games and the Football World Cup. To moderate and lead the conferences and round tableswe will have the collaboration of journalists Ana Boadas and Maria Xinxó and journalists Jordi Basté and Roger Escapa.

With a 100% pedagogical will and an approach to citizenship, the cycle is structured into four blocks, so that each day a different aspect of the competition will be addressed. Each session will be independent of the other, but the sum of the four perspectives will allow readers to get a global image of the regatta and acquire knowledge that will be very useful for them to be able to transmit and spread the passion for the America's Cup to their family, friends, and neighbors. Contributing to recovering collective joy, city pride, and the Olympic spirit that Barcelona projected to the world in 1992 is one of the great objectives pursued by Barcelona's civil society entities and all public administrations that have promoted and supported the celebration of the event. Each chapter will be recorded and can be recovered in video format on our YouTube channel or in podcast format on Spotify.

Four thematic sessions

The first session, scheduled for Wednesday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m.,will focus on explaining the origin of the America's Cup and the reasons that have led the defending team, Emirates Team New Zealand, to choose the Catalan capital to host the regatta. Likewise, we will analyze the economic and media impact that the competition will have, we will debate about the importance it has for the city and we will explain the main novelties that the Barcelona edition brings, such as the celebration, for the first time, of a women's regatta, thePuig Women's America's Cup. In this first block we will have the participation ofpresident of the Port of Barcelona, Lluís Salvadó; with thecorporate director of the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup, Albert Vilumara; and withSanti Serrat, expert communicator specialized in the Copa América, with whom we will carry out arecorrido por los 174 años de historia tour through 174 years of historyof the regatta and we will learn about his great contributions to the world of sailing. The following three days will allow us to immerse ourselves in the rules of the game of the competition; understand why the America's Cup is considered a benchmark in innovation and sustainability; and debate about the legacy we want to endure from the event in the city, respectively. Thus, May 15 will be presented as a practical session to understand how the regatta works, learn more about the teams and the calendar, and also disseminate the parallel revitalization activities that the organization is preparing.

The importance of legacy

June 19we will give voice to the engineers so they can explain to us thetechnical characteristics and innovations of AC75 boats---with which the men will compete---- and AC40, the boat that will be used in the women's and youth regattas. Finally,on July 17 we will ask ourselves what will remain after the Copa América, placing emphasis on elements such as the transformation of Port Vell and Port Olímpic, the promotion of activities linked to the blue economy ---which emerges as a sector with great potential in Barcelona--- and the encouragement of nautical activities so that the city looks more to the sea and the passion for sailing grows.

The cycle Everything you want to know about the America's Cup will take place in the Sala de Básculas of La Antigua Fábrica Estrella Damm, at Rosselló street, 515 in Barcelona. Each session will last approximately an hour and a half and, once finished, attendees will be able to enjoy an evening aperitif on the building's terrace.
