The New Barcelona Post continues to expand its editorial universe. After the recent launch of its new digital platform, the magazine incorporates a new vertical specialized in culture, entertainment, and urban experience: Espectacles BCN.

The project is born from the integration of EspectáculosBCN, a consolidated header within Barcelona's cultural ecosystem, which becomes part of The Good News Magazine, the publishing company of The New Barcelona Post. With this incorporation, the media adds a loyal community of readers, a specialized trajectory, and a recognized voice within the city's cultural sector.

The magazine's most regular readers will have already detected this movement in recent weeks. Journalist Elia Tabuenca, creator of EspectáculosBCN, has recently joined the newsroom with articles and reports that anticipated a collaboration that is now made official.

From now on, EspectáculosBCN evolves into Espectacles BCN, a new editorial vertical that will maintain the spirit and proximity that have characterized the original project, but will delve into the editorial and journalistic spirit of The New Barcelona Post. The incorporation allows uniting the communities built by the two projects over the last few years and reinforcing a shared view on culture as an essential element of Barcelona.

The header is born with the aim of becoming a reference space to discover the best shows, concerts, theatrical premieres, and cultural proposals in Barcelona, but also to explain everything that happens beyond the stage.

As its creator, Èlia Tabuenca, recalls, "in 2013, Espectáculos BCN -now Espectacles BCN- was born with a clear purpose: to be a loudspeaker for the immense variety and artistic quality of Barcelona, from the great theaters to those small local spaces that hide true gems." Now, the channel begins a new stage "to project to the world the power of the shows that are created and lived in our streets. Because Barcelona is spectacular, and we are here to prove it," says Tabuenca.

Because Barcelona is spectacular, and we are here to prove it.

The new vertical will continue to bet on one of its most recognized formats, cultural criticism, while expanding content with interviews, reports, and stories that allow understanding creative processes, the challenges of the sector, and the people who make the city's cultural life possible. From the rehearsals prior to a premiere to conversations with artists, producers, playwrights, or musicians, Espectacles BCN wants to bring readers everything that happens behind the scenes, before the curtain rises.

Guillem Carol, editor of The New Barcelona Post, points out that "quality criticism, too often forgotten, wants to become one of the mainstays of this new stage. But we also want to be a meeting point for Barcelona's cultural ecosystem through multiple formats: events, podcasts, audiovisuals, interviews, etc."

We also want to be a meeting point for Barcelona's cultural ecosystem.

The incorporation of Espectacles BCN also responds to The New Barcelona Post's desire to continue broadening its view of Barcelona. If the magazine explains the economy, business, innovation, urban planning, and the major projects that transform the city, culture is also an essential piece. Because Barcelona is not understood only through its companies or its institutions, but also through its creators, its stages, and the experiences that build its identity.

The sum of the two projects will allow uniting communities, sectoral knowledge, and growth capacity. Furthermore, like any living cultural project, and in line with the idiosyncrasy of The New Barcelona Post, Espectacles BCN will not be limited to the screen or text: the vertical will explore new formats, promote its own meetings and initiatives, and seek to generate spaces for connection between creators, institutions, cultural companies, and audiences.
