The Centre d'Acollida Assís is dedicated to facilitating and motivating social inclusion processes for homeless people, promoting their advancement, in addition to raising awareness in society. With the coronavirus crisis, Assís has encountered the arrival of people who had never needed the services of social entities, such as families and individuals who have lost their jobs, who cannot afford housing or food, adding to those already in a vulnerable situation.
Likewise, the Ared Foundation works to achieve the social and labor integration of people in situations of exclusion, mostly women from penitentiary centers and social services. This foundation has found that the COVID crisis is being harder and more severe on the most vulnerable families, and among the measures it has promoted to respond, is the preparation of food and basic product kits.
These are two of the non-profit organizations that the Mutua Madrileña Foundation, within its IX Social Projects Aid, will support in Catalonia this year. The IX Call for Aid to Social Projects of the Mutua Madrileña Foundation will support a total of five projects in Catalonia with 140,000 euros, directly benefiting more than one thousand people.
With the resources provided by the Mutua Madrileña Foundation, the Centre d'Acollida Assís will cover basic needs of homeless people who come to the center, such as protection, food, and hygiene. It will also offer them emotional social support. For its part, the Ared Foundation will allocate the aid to its socio-labor integration program for victims of gender violence. This program aims to improve the personal, professional, and economic autonomy of the women attended and increase their employability level.
