New step to complete the construction of the South section of Line 9 of the Barcelona Metro network and its branch towards the Zona Franca industrial estate, the so-called L10 South. The Generalitat has announced that on Sunday, November 7, the Port Comercial/La Factoria, Ecoparc, and ZAL/Riu Vell stations, in the Marina del Prat Vermell neighborhood, will become operational.

The construction and commissioning of these new stations has involved an investment of 120 million euros and is expected to be used by more than one million passengers annually. These stations are not underground, but, like Zona Franca, are part of a section of the line that was built on the surface and runs along a three-kilometer elevated viaduct along street A of the industrial estate.

Line 10 South previously had eight stations in service: Collblanc, Torrassa, Can Tries/Gornal, Provençana, Ciutat de la Justicia, Foneria, Foc, and Zona Franca. The first three are also part of L9 South, which connects the Zona Universitaria and Aeropuerto T1 stations. With the three new stations, L10 Sud will have eleven stops.

L9/L10 now has 37.5 kilometers and 32 stations, but to complete the line, the largest in the entire system, an investment of nearly 950 million is still needed for the construction of the central section, between Zona Universitaria and La Sagrera.
