The 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy arrives at Palau Sant Jordi

Peter Jackson's films will be screened on April 14, 15, and 16 with live performance of the soundtrack by the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès

There are soundtracks that remain etched forever. If you accompany them with the adventures and misfortunes of a hobbit named Frodo Baggins and company, you get a universal classic that stirs passions generation after generation like The Lord of the Rings. For all those for whom having read the books or having seen the movies more than once falls short, they should know that the Palau Sant Jordi has scheduled a trip to Middle-earth in April of next year.

It will do so by becoming a cinema with capacity for 15,000 attendees, among whom the peaceful coexistence of elves and dwarves will be allowed. But not only that. To achieve a more immersive viewing and feel like one more member of the Fellowship of the Ring, the Orquestra Sinfónica del Vallès (OSV) will perform the soundtrack live, directed by Ludwig Wicki and accompanied by soprano Kaitlyn Lusk. The OSV will be joined by the Madrigal, Bruckner Barcelona, and Vivaldi choirs. All of this to bring to life the scores that have become another character in the magical world that J.R.R. Tolkien created and to which many would want to move.

The days to immerse oneself ---again or for the first time--- in the Shire and dare to go on a journey to Mordor with The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King will be April 14, 15, and 16, 2023. The Lord of the Rings in Concert, organized by Concert Studio, will project, each day, a film from Peter Jackson's trilogy at the Palau Sant Jordi. In 2019, L'Auditori hosted a similar screening to the one that will take place in the Olympic pavilion, but on a more limited scale.

The organizers of The Lord of the Rings in Concert already foresee breaks in the program, considering that all films are around three hours long and the last one, The Return of the King, exceeds three and a half hours. It will be necessary to stop to gather strength with a second breakfast.

Tickets for the screening at Palau Sant Jordi will be available starting Thursday, October 6 at 12 noon. For those who are not available in April and don't mind making a stop in Madrid on their way to destroy the ring, the show is also scheduled at the WiZink Center for October 6, 7, and 8, 2023.
