Veriff, a provider of digital verification solutions, has decided to locate a technology center in Barcelona and plans to hire a total of 50 professionals by early 2022. The new headquarters will allow the company to expand its engineering and product teams. Veriff's Vice President of Products, Duncan Steblyna, will be in charge of leading the new center.

The company, based in Tallinn, has chosen the Catalan capital for the availability of talent and its startup ecosystem. The strong capacity to attract venture capital investment in recent years has also been one of the points in its favor.

The expansion in Barcelona is part of the internationalization process that the Estonian company began a few years ago. Specifically, it comes after the opening of an office in New York at the end of 2019 and the expansion of its presence in London earlier this year. Throughout this process, Veriff has consolidated a workforce of more than 300 employees of 35 nationalities. It expects to reach 500 during the second quarter of 2022.

The company offers its digital verification services to a global portfolio of companies in fintech, cryptocurrencies, mobility, and other sectors, with clients such as Bolt, Opera, Uphold, and Wise. In Spain, it works with Rebellion Pay and HeyTrade. It expects to start operating with Barcelona clients next year.

Founded in 2015 by Kaarel Kotkas, the company has raised a total of 79 million euros. Some of its investors have been IVP, Accel, Mosaic Ventures, and Y Combinator.
