Unfortunately, Granja Vendrell was one of the many emblematic establishments in Barcelona that ended up closing. Located at 59 Girona Street, the premises closed its doors in September 2019, with almost a hundred years of history behind it. Now, according to La Vanguardia, it will reopen at the hands of restorer Arianna Grau.

The renovation works of Granja Vendrell are about to finish, explains Grau in statements to The New Barcelona Post. They are expected to be completed within a few weeks and she hopes that the establishment can open around mid-February, if the health situation allows it. The original idea was to reopen Granja Vendrell in May 2020, but the works stopped and, given the characteristics of the premises, proved more complicated than expected.
Grau fell in love with the establishment and decided to recover it at the beginning of last year, preserving absolutely everything, but giving it a new "more European" touch. Grau's idea is that from now on you can go to eat and drink at any time of the day. The typical cream of Granja Vendrell, obviously, will return. The new owner points out that she has the recipe and that it is relatively easy to make and, in addition, she has recovered the original machines that were used in the premises.
