The CNMV moves its headquarters in Catalonia from the Stock Exchange to the 22@ district

The National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) is changing its Catalan delegation from Passeig de Gràcia to facilities on Bolívia street, in the 22@ district, in a bid to "get closer to the Catalan financial community."

Until now, the CNMV delegation in Catalonia occupied spaces temporarily ceded in the Barcelona Stock Exchange. As of today, its new headquarters moves to 800 square meter facilities it has purchased on Bolivia Street, in the 22@ technology district. The entity's vice-president, Montserrat Martínez, emphasizes that the objective of the move is to be even "closer to the financial community in Catalonia", while it aims to accompany, from Barcelona, investors and issuers in the growth of the sector towards sustainability and the fintech field. The body will share the new headquarters with the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC).

The Barcelona headquarters, which employs more than twenty workers, concentrates between 10% and 20% of the CNMV's registration and supervision activity. Furthermore, "in recent years the Catalan capital has become a global fintech hub", as argued by the CNMV president, Rodrigo Buenaventura. For all these reasons, the relevance of the delegation and the organization's commitment to Barcelona is growing.

The organization's choice of 22@ "is emblematic because the district has been the cradle of the city's industrialization," its vice-president stated. The first deputy mayor, Jaume Collboni, defines the technology district as "the space that will lead the city in the future" and considers the CNMV's commitment to Barcelona for 25 years "important." Collboni points out that 22@ is growing northward, towards Poblenou, and that there are now 30 buildings under construction that are expected to generate 60,000 jobs.
