The Chinese company PXI Automotive, based in Suzhou, has just established itself in Catalonia with the purchase of a plant for the manufacture of metal parts for the automotive sector, the first it will have in all of Europe. It has been able to do so after acquiring 100% of the shares of Mecàniques Troem, a Catalan firm located in Torelló, in the Osona region, which is dedicated to deep metal drawing and cold stamping.

PXI Automotive has executed an initial investment of close to one million euros to buy the facilities. In this way, the continuity of the activity carried out until now in the factory and the maintenance of all jobs will be guaranteed. To establish itself in Catalonia, the company has received support from Acció.

According to the general director of PXI Automotive Spain, David Prats, the Torelló plant will grow from now on by manufacturing for other global clients of the Chinese group. Thus, to reinforce production, a new production center will be launched this November in a warehouse located in the neighboring town of Sant Pere de Torelló. It will have an area of 2,700 square meters and will be dedicated to the manufacture of curved tubes and machined parts, products also intended for the automotive sector.

The Asian group has production plants in China and Mexico and works for fifteen suppliers in the automotive sector worldwide. Until now, Mecàniques Troem exported to France and Poland, and the forecast is that it will begin to increase exports and destination countries.

With the expected growth after the purchase, PXI Automotive Spain expects to close this 2021 with a turnover close to 3.6 million euros, a 25% increase. Looking ahead to the next five years, the company expects to triple this year's turnover and double its workforce, currently at 29 employees.
