The British School of Barcelona will invest 15 million in a campus in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi

The private school will open its first center in the Catalan capital, which will join those in Castelldefels and Sitges. The first building will be finished for the next academic year and will accommodate up to 200 Primary and Early Childhood students.

The British School of Barcelona (BSB) continues to expand its educational model throughout the Catalan capital and its surroundings. After its campuses in Sitges and Castelldefels, BSB will open a new school in Barcelona, BSB City, consisting of two buildings located in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district.

To make this possible, it will invest 15 million euros, working with about twenty local companies. Two existing buildings, one of them in modernist style, will be completely renovated to adapt them to new educational uses. Both educational centers will have a total capacity for almost a thousand students. They will feature laboratories, sports facilities, kitchens with a capacity for 900 daily menus, and photovoltaic installations.

The first building, located on Esperança Street, will be ready for next academic year. The Foundation Campus will have 750 square meters of indoor space and 500 square meters outdoors. It will have capacity for a total of 200 students aged three to ten, offering them Early Years and Primary courses.

Subsequently, in September 2023, the Barcelona campus will expand its facilities with a second building, the Main Campus, near the Foundation Campus and John Kennedy Square. With an area of 5,500 square meters of indoor spaces and 1,200 square meters of outdoor spaces, it will be able to accommodate 750 students aged three to 18, with Early Years, Primary, Secondary, and Baccalaureate courses. It will also have its own and adjacent sports facilities.

This is what the second building of the new BSB campus in Barcelona, near Kennedy Square, will look like.

The Sarriá-Sant Gervasi campus will become the fourth center in Catalonia and will join BSB Castelldefels, created in 1999 and offering courses for students aged three to 16, and BSB Sitges, incorporated in 2016, formerly International School of Barcelona, and offering education from three to 11 years old. In Castelldefels, BSB also has BSB Nexus, a pre-university campus for students aged between 16 and 18, which opened in 2018.

More than 60 years of history

With annual fees ranging from 10,000 euros to almost 16,000 euros, its centers are recognized and accredited by the Government of the United Kingdom and Spain, providing British and Spanish qualifications, in addition to offering the International Baccalaureate. The teaching staff has English as their mother tongue and the nationalities of the students are from up to 60 different countries.

BSB offers an individualized study program, where students can choose the activities and subjects they want to do. It starts with autonomous education from the age of three in the Early Years stage, moving through project-based learning in Primary and the choice of subjects throughout the entire Secondary cycle, up to the Baccalaureate.

This private school has been part of the international educational group Cognita since 2007. Cognita has about eighty schools in Europe, South America, and Asia, educating more than 55,000 students. In Spain, there are eight centers that are part of the group, including Mirasur School, The English Montessori School, and the European School of Madrid.
