The Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW) is warming up for its fourth edition. The event organized by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) will incorporate two new thematic axes into its program this year, opening its debates and round tables to sectors such as health and proptech, after having previously focused on real estate and not so much on its more technological and digital side. It will focus on a total of seven areas, completing the list with digital industry, talent, sustainability, mobility, and experience.
"The implementation of technology and digitalization in each of the economy's sectors brings with it many changes that both companies and employees must embrace positively and see them as a step towards efficiency and the improvement of their working conditions, as well as an opportunity to be participants in the new economy," states the special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro. "BNEW is an example of this, and a clear example is the evolution from the real estate vertical to proptech, with technologies applied to one of the key sectors of the global economy," he adds.
The fourth edition of BNEW will be held from Monday, October 2, to Thursday, October 5. For the second consecutive year, the venue will be the DFactory Barcelona, the innovation center for industry 4.0 in the Zona Franca. Three sets will be located there for the hundred panels, debates, and sessions that will be organized, with the forecast of bringing together almost 500 national and international speakers.
The new economy event will maintain the hybrid format that has characterized it since its first edition in 2020, when the pandemic still prevented large in-person gatherings. The online option is designed to facilitate the attendance of listeners from anywhere in the world, with the possibility of registering for free.
Furthermore, just like in previous editions, BNEW has a digital platform from which participants can follow the content, but also interact with each other. The only vertical that will be developed solely in person will be BNEW Experience, with the aim of showcasing the city's leisure, cultural, and gastronomic offerings.
Registration to participate in BNEW, either in person or remotely, is now open on the event's website. Another novelty this year will be the incorporation of Ibercaja as a sponsor.
BNEW 2022: more than 12,000 professionals
The CZFB event closed its third edition with the attendance of more than 12,000 professionals, half of whom attended in person and the other half followed it via streaming. In addition, 40% were international, coming from a hundred countries, with a predominance of Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, and Mexico.
The program consisted of 131 panels over four days, with the attendance of more than 600 speakers. According to the organization, some 5,500 networking contacts were established, with 2,000 made through its digital platform.
