The startup ADmit Therapeutics has closed a capital increase round of 5.4 million euros. The round had Clave Capital as the main investor and also included EIC Fund, Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) and Diagnostics Accelerator (DxA).

Other investors, such as Lavanda Ventures, Ship2B and WA4Steam, also participated in the operation. The round will be used to obtain CE marking and approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in order to commercialize its new technology in Europe and the U.S.

The company ADmit Therapeutics was founded in 2017 as a spin-off of the Institut d'Investigació Biomèdica de Bellvitge (Idibell), with the aim of developing and commercializing a new technology for early detection of Alzheimer's.

Its new technology, called MAP-AD, consists of an algorithm that stratifies patients with mild cognitive impairment according to their probability of progression to Alzheimer's, and does so by analyzing mitochondrial DNA signatures in a blood sample.

Thus, this new technology allows calculating this probability simply "with a blood sample and using state-of-the-art sequencing techniques," highlighted ADmit CEO, Marta Barrachina.
