The church wants to attract more tourists and make them visit the lesser-known spaces of the Catalan capital, always overshadowed by the Sagrada Família and the Cathedral. The Archdiocese of Barcelona, in collaboration with Turisme de Barcelona, has created the Barcino Sacra card, a joint ticket to visit the most prominent ecclesiastical spaces in the city center. "It will allow you to travel through 1,800 years of the city's history, from the 2nd century to the 20th, with special attention to the medieval period," explains Monsignor Josep Maria Turull. From Roman constructions to Romanesque and Gothic ones, including a panoramic view from Tibidabo.
The ticket will include visits to the Cathedral and the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar, but also to other less popular spaces such as the old Monastery of Sant Pau del Camp, the Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi, the oratory of Sant Felip Neri, the Casa de l'Almoina, the old Monastery of Sant Pere de les Puel·les and the Expiatory Temple of the Sagrat Cor del Tibidabo, the only one that escapes from Ciutat Vella. All these spaces must be visited within a period of 72 hours. Including more stops in the future is not ruled out.
The Barcino Sacra card will have a general price of 47 euros, which will mean a saving of 15% compared to buying the eight tickets separately. There will be discounts for students between 16 and 25 years old (42 euros) and children between 3 and 15 years old (17 euros).
The new card will be available from Saturday, July 1. In the eight spaces, the visiting hours have been standardized, starting at 10 in the morning and ending at 6 in the afternoon, from Monday to Saturday and, in some cases, also on Sunday. There will be no need to make a prior reservation at any of the monuments, except for the Cathedral.
