New commitment from a multinational in the software sector for Barcelona. The Australian company SiteMinder, owner of a management platform already used by more than 36,000 hotels worldwide, has just set up in the Catalan capital with the aim of strengthening its presence in Europe, where until now it already had offices in Berlin, Galway, and London.

In a first phase, the new Barcelona delegation will have 60 employees, who will work physically in the new headquarters or remotely from other Spanish cities. According to SiteMinder, Barcelona will provide support to the sales and operations departments for Europe, which will translate into better service for European hotels. The Catalan capital becomes SiteMinder's ninth office worldwide, along with Bangalore, Bangkok, Berlin, Dallas, Galway, London, Manila, and Sydney, the city where it is headquartered.

According to the firm, this opening comes ten years after introducing its hotel subscription software in Spain and after signing a partnership agreement with the Gremi d'Hotels de Barcelona. "Barcelona is a strategic point in SiteMinder's expansion plans, not only for its geographical position, but also for being a mature and international destination," emphasize company sources, who highlight the great tourist relevance of the city, which has more than 125,000 hotel beds and almost 10 million visitors.

"The new Barcelona office represents SiteMinder's commitment to offering a service difficult to match, not only to the thousands of hoteliers who use our technology in Spain, but also to those across Europe, where travel has returned with force," explained Sara Padrosa, SiteMinder's director in Spain. "In line with our history of growth, we are building stronger, one-to-one connections with hotels in more markets, offering very interesting employment opportunities for local talent and seeking new ways to exceed our customers' expectations," she pointed out.

The executive highlights that the Spanish tourism sector is experiencing "a great year thanks to accumulated demand." This is confirmed by a global indicator developed by the company, the SiteMinder World Hotel Index, which states that the country's hotels are receiving almost 115% of the booking volume they had on these same dates in 2019, and more than 75% of the booked stays are for the summer months.

Founded in Sydney in 2006 by two entrepreneurs, SiteMinder defines itself as the "world's leading open hotel commerce platform," offering hoteliers different tools to increase bookings and the visibility of their hotels online. With a presence in 150 countries, where it operates in eight languages, the company went public in Australia at the end of 2021 after experiencing strong growth and raising several rounds of financing. Its software mediates more than 100 million bookings worth more than 35 billion dollars each year.
