After two years marked by health restrictions, the third edition of Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW), which will be held from October 3 to 6 at the DFactory Barcelona technology building, arrives with significant follow-up from startups, which account for 12.5% of the 12,000 attendees from 100 countries expected at these conferences.
Emerging companies recognize the event organized by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) as a space for fostering networking and, therefore, for generating opportunities and knowledge around the new economy and industry 4.0.
These objectives, which are also the central axis of BNEW, will be addressed transversally in the six areas of debate and reflection that make up the conferences: Digital Industry, Invest, Sustainability, Mobility, Real Estate and Talent. This year's edition will feature 600 speakers who will offer 180 hours of content distributed in 130 sessions, which can also be followed by streaming; in fact, of the 12,000 registered, half will participate online.
"The debate panels of the different thematic verticals have been expressly selected according to the most current trends and exploring multiple aspects related to the new opportunities and the dizzying economic and technological transformations we are experiencing," specified the general director of the Consorci, Blanca Sorigué.
This edition highlights the participation in the Inspirational Speakers sessions of Josef Ajram, stock market and markets specialist, or Laura Rojas-Marcos, doctor in psychology. Among the speakers will be Daniel Setó, general director of Alisys; Maria Camila Moreno, executive director of the Association of Free Zones of the Americas (AZFA); Javier Burón, housing manager at the Barcelona City Council; Sara Aagensen, Secretary of State for Energy in the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge; Josefina Lindblom, policy officer at the European Commission; Raül Blanco, Secretary General for Industry and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism; or Conxita Font, head of European funds in the Secretary of Foreign Affairs and the EU.
At DFactory there will also be a seventh area, BNEW Experience, focused on leisure in general and on showcasing the leisure and culture offerings of the city of Barcelona to all attendees.
The meeting will take place at DFactory Barcelona, the engine of industry 4.0 promoted by the Consorci"BNEW aims to unite the entire new economy industry under one banner to jointly build the roadmap for the future", has remarked the special delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), Pere Navarro, who has insisted that the event will turn Barcelona into "the world capital of the new economy".
Navarro has highlighted that the third edition is marked by in-person attendance and by the location of the conferences in the DFactory building, "a motor of industry 4.0", in which the Consorci has invested 30 million euros. "We want to show what happens inside the building to society as a whole and to the sectors related to the new economy," he assured. An economy that, according to Navarro, is "the most dynamic, the one that generates the most opportunities and jobs, and the one that has the most continuity," as shown by the 30 companies installed in the innovation center, with about 500 workers.
The protagonist of the presentation of the third edition of BNEW has been Pepper, a humanoid robot from the company Alisys, with offices in DFactory, who welcomed attendees and invited them to attend the event. And who, without a doubt, will be seen next week touring the DFactory spaces among the participants in the conferences.
