he future of the automotive sector lies in the electric vehicle. In its plan to adapt to this new reality, Seat has just launched the Electromobility Learning Center (eLC), its own electromobility education center that will train its workforce and promote the existence of skilled labor in this emerging sector.

The school is located in a new 400-square-meter building situated in the heart of Seat's plant in Martorell (Barcelona) and is one of the actions contemplated within the 5,000 million euro investment plan that the company has announced until 2025 to electrify its range and become a benchmark in sustainable and emission-free mobility.

"With the creation of the Electromobility Learning Center, we want to offer the more than 15,000 workers all the necessary tools to face the challenges of tomorrow," explained Xavier Ros, executive vice president of Human Resources and Organization at Seat.

The center will offer a complete program on electric cars and will complement Seat's traditional training offer, which in 2019 allocated 23 million euros to promote the professional development of its employees. The objective is for the entire Martorell workforce to be prepared for the technological change involved in the manufacturing of hybrid electric and 100% electric vehicles.

The Electromobility Learning Center is located at the Martorell plant.

With a commercial presence in 75 countries, the Volkswagen group subsidiary is immersed in an electrification plan that will involve the launch of five new electric and plug-in hybrid models by 2021, which will join the electric version of the Seat Mii, already on sale.

Thus, hybrid electric cars under the Seat and Cupra brands of the León and Formentor models will be manufactured in Martorell.

In 2019, before the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Seat recorded a historic sales record, with a turnover of more than 11,000 million euros, more than 574,000 cars sold, and a net profit of 346 million.
