The Raval(s) Tapas Route returns this November to celebrate the neighborhood's most authentic essence
Going for tapas is not just eating: it's a way of tasting the city in bites. In Barcelona, few neighborhoods keep this custom as alive as theRaval, where tapas continue to be a ritual of coexistence between generations, cultures, and ways of understanding life. And there are few excuses as tasty as the Ruta de Tapas Raval(s), the gastronomic event that accompanies the Festival Raval(s) (from November 6 to 9) and extends until the 15th. Organized by the Eix Comercial del Raval, this route invites you to enjoy a special tapa and a drink for only 5 euros in some of the neighborhood's most emblematic establishments.
In total, 23 bars and restaurants participate in this edition, but at Baco y Boca we have made a selection of 10 essential stops: places where tapas tell stories, where the past mixes with the avant-garde, and where Raval is savored in its maximum expression.
La Ravala
Possibly, it is the temple of tapas in the Raval and its butifarrón and blue cheese "bomba" with apple mayonnaise, the great goddess. It is an authentic ode to the most rogue Raval. Potent, tasty and with that acidic touch that hooks you. A tapa with character, like all those served daily at La Ravala. C/ de la Lluna, 1
Mendizábal
Another of the most emblematic and charismatic corners of the Raval neighborhood is Mendizábal, especially for its bar directly facing the street, which makes it an essential stop for strollers and passers-by. On this Route, they propose one of those classic tapas that never fails: traditional tripe. Because here, tapas taste of history and well-poured beers. C/ Junta de Comerç, 2
Bar Marsella
The most legendary bar in the Raval —and perhaps in all of Barcelona— could not be missed. With 200 years of history, this old refuge for artists continues to attract curious people, nostalgics, and tapas lovers. Its bohemian essence remains intact, and at its bar and tables, one can taste "authentic bites with history" wrapped in that decadent charm that only places that have seen generations pass without betraying their soul possess.
For this reason, on this Raval(s) Tapas Route, they propose a classic among tapas: escudella croquettes made with ingredients from La Boqueria. Tradition and nostalgia in a single bite. C/ Sant Pau, 65
La Morera
It has become one of the most charming restaurants in the Raval. And, as it could not be otherwise, they opt for an "essential" tapa: the classic Barceloneta "bomba", with the flavor of the most traditional recipe and the charm of lifelong bars. C/ Arc de Sant Agustí, 1
Bar Costa
In this place, where they know how to pair the best of cuisine with the exceptional of mixology, tapas travel to the other side of the Atlantic. Their pork taco with pico de gallo is pure fusion between Mexico and the Raval: cheerful, spicy, and street-like, just like Joaquim Costa itself. C/ Joaquim Costa, 53
Lucky's
Ideal for lovers of modern tapas. Their Shaky's potatoes are a crispy and tasty reinterpretation of spiced potatoes. Perfect to share with a cold beer. C/ Joaquim Costa, 36
Fat Cat
The cosmopolitan and contemporary Raval has its embassy in this place. Its bao with tender cheek, pickled onion, and gochujang sauce demonstrates that tapas can also be international and addictive. Pl. de Salvador Seguí, 13
Bianco Noir
With a French air and bohemian aesthetic, Bianco Noir offers an irresistible mini raclette. A melting bite, ideal to accompany with wine and let yourself be carried away by the artistic atmosphere of the Raval. C/ Riera Alta, 8
La Monroe
Culture and gastronomy go hand in hand in this CCCB café, where a good atmosphere is combined with the best cuisine. Their proposal for this Raval(s) Tapas Route is an eggplant and cheese polpette with tomato jam, a light, balanced, and delicious tapa with a Mediterranean soul. Pl. de Salvador Seguí, 1-9
La Prudencia
Despite its name, at La Prudencia they dare with a high-level tapa: confit tomato and l'Escala anchovy toast. Small, intense, and perfectly balanced. C/ Abat Safont, 11.
Tapas in Raval: a way of living Barcelona
The Raval(s) Tapas Route is not just a gastronomic event: it is an invitation to explore the neighborhood with your senses. Each tapa is a story; each bar, a window to the soul of the Raval. And if you also want to participate in the draw for a meal for two at the winning establishment, you just have to ask for your Tapas Passport and collect eight stamps, then deposit your passport at any of the participating bars and restaurants (or at the headquarters of the Eix Comercial del Raval) before November 15.
