With a turnover close to 1.9 billion euros, Roca Group is the most internationalized Catalan industrial company, with 85 factories spread all over the world and commercial presence in 170 countries. Considered as the global leader in sanitary porcelain for the bathroom, the Barcelona-based group, 100% family-owned, has just reinforced this position with the acquisition of the German company Sanit, specialized in concealed cisterns and other sanitary components.
Headquartered in Eisenberg, Thuringia, Sanit was until now part of the Belgian group Aliaxis and closed 2020 with a turnover of 74 million euros. Roca's new subsidiary has three production centers in Germany, located in Eisenberg and in the cities of Rödental and Wittenberg, with a total of 378 employees. Sanit exports to some 70 countries and will allow Roca to strengthen its position in a very specialized and growing product segment, that of wall-mounted sanitary systems or installations. According to Roca, Sanit is the third leading operator in Germany in this product category and the fifth largest manufacturer in Europe.
"The acquisition of Sanit is a fundamental step in our strategy of integrating products that offer complete solutions for the bathroom and, with the incorporation of high value-added technology, we consolidate our global leadership," highlights Roca's CEO, Albert Magrans. According to the executive, Sanit will become a hub of knowledge and development for Roca in the so-called installation systems.
With a global workforce of 24,000 employees, Roca invoiced 1,861 million euros in 2019, a record figure. The group is the market leader in bathroom products in Europe, Latin America, India and Russia and also has a significant commercial presence in countries such as China and Australia.
