Robin Good will sell its food products with social impact in Ametller Origen chain establishments starting this December and is also in negotiations with the Carrefour distribution group. The objective is for the food produced by this brand to reach a wider audience and to generate new jobs in entities that work with people at risk of social exclusion.
The startup, created in 2018 in Barcelona by Lluís Font, already has a distribution agreement with Calidad Pascual for the hospitality sector, traditional food, and vending (breadsticks and cookies), but now wants to reach the final consumer more massively to promote the Robin Good brand, which they want to make synonymous with responsible consumption. "We want our products, which are of high quality, to always be in the consumer's shopping basket; not only on certain occasions or for social contribution actions," says Font.
Thus, the idea is to be present on supermarket shelves and also sell online through different brands. "We also have our own e-shop, but we believe it is not very sustainable to promote 100% online sales from this platform," he specifies.
Robin Good markets vegetable creams and broths, different types of breadsticks, cookies, and preparations to make two types of risotto. The brand can be found in El Corte Inglés, Santiveri, and Uvesco supermarkets in the Basque Country and Madrid, as well as in small shops. In total, Robin Good now reaches 200 points of sale in Catalonia and 500 throughout Spain.
Robin Good employs nine people at risk of exclusion who work in different workshops of social entitiesWith current demand, the Robin Good brand employs nine people at risk of exclusion who work in different workshops of social entitiesas Fundació Crisàlida, in Camporells (Huesca); Fundación Astres, from Santa Coloma de Farners; Hortus Agrodiscae, from Montblanc (Tarragona); Gureak, in San Sebastián (Basque Country); and Fundació Cares, from Barcelona, for packaging and logistics issues.
To boost its presence in large national distribution chains, Robin Good will open a crowdfunding financing round, with the British platform Crowdcube, to raise 250,000 euros, which will be mainly allocated to advertising promotion campaigns. Since its incorporation, the company has obtained financing from MicroBank and raised 150,000 euros in a previous financing round through the also crowdfunding platform Bolsa Social.
Lluís Font embarked on this project at 34 years old, after having worked in companies such as Panrico and Unilever, because he knew how difficult it is for social enterprises to market and distribute their products. Hence, Robin Good was initially a marketer of jams from La Fageda, wines and oils from L'Olivera, cookies from El Rosal, Auara water or the beers and chocolates from Casa Dalmases, among others. These brands are the result of projects with social impact with which it still collaborates to prepare its Christmas hampers, composed exclusively of sustainable and solidarity items, which they prepare for companies aware of their impact on society.
Currently, Robin Good is made up of a team of eight people. The company's revenues amounted to 150,000 euros in 2020, "a year in which the pandemic gave us visibility," explains Lluís Font. Forecasts for 2021 increase its sales to 250,000 euros.
