Now all companies already depend on the data they constantly generate, whatever their sector, not just technology companies. They have to manage all the information that their operations create daily, whether it's from clients, users, suppliers... A continuous trickle of information that often requires relying on complex data management systems.

The objective of Prenomics, a Barcelona-based startup dedicated to data consulting and the development of technological services, is to provide companies with a data management platform that is "simple, visual, intuitive, and guided", according to its CTO and co-founder, Eloi Marín.
The software designed by Prenomics can be used by the employees of the companies that acquire it, without having to depend on external IT advice. Intelek, the Prenomics platform, is designed so that all employees can access the most relevant information produced by their company and make decisions based on figures, thus encouraging data governance.
Marín explains that the platform uses artificial intelligence to guide users and make suggestions on how to better visualize data and navigate through it. It also alerts them about what they should cross-reference and issues warnings when it detects errors in information storage.
Resorting to public funding and European funds
With the implementation of Intelek, the startup expects to continue growing this year. Born in 2018, Eloi Marín and Roger Agustín, its co-founders, started by offering consulting services, helping all types of companies to better work with their data. This part of Prenomics' business can also contribute to their continued increase in employee volume during 2021.
Currently, they have a staff of about ten employees, after having doubled it during the summer, with more programmers, data analysts, and data consultants. They will hire more workers if they manage to secure public aid they have requested worth 100,000 euros to continue developing their new software platform, in addition to closing more consulting service contracts.
Prenomics started with about 100,000 euros, contributed by Marín and Agustín, and they are not considering resorting to funding rounds for now. They prefer to opt for public funding and postpone resorting to private funding for a couple of years. Likewise, they do not rule out trying to obtain European funds to continue developing their proposal.
Consulting services are what have allowed Prenomics to generate revenue since 2018, and they estimate that tools like Intelek will start bearing fruit this year. In 2019, they invoiced around 200,000 euros, a figure similar to that obtained in 2020, and they expect to exceed 300,000 this year. VidaCaixa, Instamaki, and Waynabox are some of their clients.
