New advance in Payfit's commitment to Barcelona. After locating its Spanish subsidiary in the Catalan capital in 2018, the French technology firm specializing in human resources software has announced the opening of a 4,537 square meter corporate headquarters in the 22@ district, which will allow it to face its growth plan and new hires.
Payfit's offices will fully occupy the newly constructed StepUp building, located on Pamplona street, at the corner of Sancho de Ávila, near the Glòries Tower and the TNC. It is a building designed by the BCA Arquitectura firm, which has a ground floor plus five floors and a terrace, in addition to two basements for parking cars, scooters, motorcycles, and bicycles. In parallel to the upper terrace (rooftop), Payfit's new corporate headquarters will have two more terraces on the ground floor and on the second floor, with more than 600 square meters outdoors for the enjoyment of employees.
StepUp has been promoted by the Belgian real estate group Codic and has been financed by Banco Sabadell. With this project, Codic makes its debut in Barcelona. With a presence in Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Hungary, and Spain, Codic is a group owned by the Descours and Mulliez families in alliance with Thierry Behiels, the firm's general director. The Savills consultancy has advised on the rental operation.
According to Payfit, the 22@ offices will open throughout 2022 and will allow for the hiring of 150 employees in Spain this year. Thus, the subsidiary is expected to grow from the current 86 employees to more than 200 employees by the end of the fiscal year. According to the company, the vacancies to increase the company's talent will be for both junior and senior professionals who will allow "the exchange of experience and knowledge with a view to future growth." Profiles will be selected to increase the commercial team, as well as the product team and labor experts.
"These new talents respond to a strong need of the company to satisfy the growing expectations of our clients and, to achieve this objective, it is necessary for all departments to grow. We are sure that these new PayFiters will consolidate the foundations of our company's success," explains Giulia Miazzo, Head of People at PayFit Spain.
The announcement of PayFit's strengthened presence in Barcelona comes after the French startup has become a new unicorn ---emerging companies valued at over one billion euros---after closing a Series E round in January worth 254 million euros led by General Atlantic and with the participation of Eurazeo, Bpifrance, and Accel Ventures. With this transaction, the company's value reaches 1.820 billion euros.
Founded in April 2016 by Firmin Zocchetto, Ghislain de Fontenay, and Florian Fournier, PayFit serves 6,500 SMEs and expects to triple its revenue this year compared to 2021. The company has developed a software as a service (SaaS) technology platform that simplifies and automates companies' payroll and HR processes.
"The health crisis has turned digitalization into a true competitive advantage for SMEs and has convinced more executives. But there are still millions of SMEs that want to digitalize. The market is huge, and we want to become leaders in payroll and human resources management. We firmly believe that digitalization will be an essential lever in the economic recovery after the crisis," says Yoann Artus, Director of PayFit Spain.
