"Morillas, tell me?"

There are people who don't need to occupy big headlines to transform a company. They don't usually appear in photographs, nor do they sign the most recognized projects, but they are the ones who, over the years, end up defining the way of doing things, of understanding work and, above all, of relating to people. When they leave, that's when you realize that a part of the house's identity silently carried their name.

This weekend, Maria Mateu left us. For us, she was not only the wife of the founder Antoni Morillas. She was one of the souls of our project and one of the people who most contributed to building the culture that defines our house today.

In our house, there is a question that has resonated for decades with special force: "Who are we?" And the answer came immediately, always with her unmistakable smile: "The best!" It was not arrogance or vanity. It was a way of facing life. An invitation to give the best of ourselves, to work with pride, with optimism and with the conviction that any challenge could be overcome.

Maria was there from day one. She worked at the front office when everything was still to be built, attending to clients, solving problems and making anyone who walked through the door feel at home. She did it with extraordinary naturalness, without seeking prominence, without distinguishing between great responsibilities and small tasks. She was simply there, always willing to help.

Family businesses are often explained through their founders. But there are many other people who support these projects with discretion. People who transmit values, who take care of the teams and who turn a company into a community. Maria was exactly that.

Everything we learned from her is not found in any management manual or business school. She taught us that work only makes sense if it is accompanied by respect and generosity. That difficulties are not fought with lamentations, but with serenity. That when the path goes uphill, that is precisely when you need to smile the most. And that people are always at the center of any project that wants to last.

A fervent defender of freedom, justice, women, Catalonia, and her Barça, she was also a woman deeply connected to her family, her friends, and life. We will miss her messages celebrating every Barça goal, her conversations, her sense of humor, and her unique way of making any worry seem a little smaller. We are convinced that the day Barça lifts another Champions trophy, we will inevitably look up and think of her.

At Morillas, we will continue to work with the same demanding standards, the same rigor, and the same enthusiasm that she transmitted to us. Not because it is an obligation, but because it is the best way to honor her legacy.
