Nuage Therapeutics has announced the incorporation of Judit Anido as CEO of the company. The entrepreneur and executive from the health sector will have to lead its growth and boost the development of drug modulators for therapeutic targets that have been unapproachable until now. Based in the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB), the startup was created in 2021 by IRB Barcelona, ICREA, and researchers Xavier Salvatella, Mateusz Biesaga, and Denes Hnisz. It has the financial support of Sabadell Asabys.
Anido has extensive international experience professionalizing biotech companies and leading their activity up to clinical phases. She founded and led as CEO the growth of Mosaic Biomedicals, dedicated to the development of innovative and personalized treatments for cancer. After the merger of Mosaic with the Canadian company Northern Biologics in 2016, she also held the vice presidency of Operations and Corporate Affairs at Northern. The clinical-phase drug developed by Mosaic, MSC-1, was acquired in 2020 along with the preclinical programs of the business conglomerate. Anido was also president and CEO of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, a Catalan association of life sciences and health companies.
The new CEO of Nuage Therapeutics holds a PhD in Cancer Biology from the University of Barcelona (UB) and an MBA from Duke University with a specialization in healthcare sector management, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
"Judit's experience leading the growth of companies in the health sector and her extensive knowledge of drug development aimed at cancer treatment will be key for the development of Nuage, positioning it as a leader in the field of molecular condensates," says Clara Campàs, partner at Asabys.
Specifically, the company has a unique assay based on the modulation of biomolecular condensates for the discovery of new drugs aimed at therapeutic targets that contain disordered domains. Its most advanced program consists of the development of drugs against castration-resistant prostate cancer, and in the coming months, trials will begin to address additional programs on different therapeutic targets.
