Noelia Fernández has been appointed as the new executive creative director of Ogilvy Barcelona, a decision that contributes to improving the female presence in the executive creative directorates of agencies, which is very low. A professional with more than 15 years of experience in the sector, Fernández was until now responsible for the independent agency Manifesto, also in the Barcelona office.
"I face the challenge with a mix of excitement and responsibility, but with great emotion to share the journey with such talented people. I am at a very sweet moment in my career and the opportunity to be part of Ogilvy Barcelona is the impulse that leads me to continue growing and learning," said the executive, who holds a degree in Advertising and Public Relations from Universitat Abat Oliba (CEU) and is also a creativity and creative direction professor at Elisava and Complot.
Until now, she has worked for renowned brands such as TikTok, Bizum, Jägermeister, Level, Glovo, Lays Gourmet, Mattel, Zurich, Reebok, Tena Essity, Fundación La Caixa, and the Generalitat de Catalunya. At the helm of Ogilvy Barcelona's creative area, she will lead a team of more than 50 people alongside Jordi Urbea, Senior Vicepresident of Ogilvy Spain and CEO of Ogilvy Barcelona, and Roberto Fara, Chief Creative Officer of Ogilvy Spain.
"Fernández's arrival is a clear commitment to strengthening the agency's creative area in Barcelona, one of our global hallmarks, in a context where the office has become Ogilvy's experience, strategy, creativity, data, and technology hub in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa," highlights Urbea. According to the veteran executive, the agency's commitment to female talent "is absolute" and he cites as an example that Ogilvy Barcelona's executive committee, made up of 18 people, is gender-balanced. In general, across Ogilvy Spain, 60% of employees are women.
"Little by little, women are finding our void in positions of responsibility in agencies, and Ogilvy Barcelona's commitment to a woman who, moreover, comes from an indie, seems to me a complete declaration of intent," concludes Fernández.
