Barcelona's Festa Major returns from September 23 to 27, 2026, and will fill the capital with nearly 500 activities. From Mercè Arts de Carrer (MAC) to popular culture exhibitions, passing through the varied musical offerings of BAM and Música Mercè, the city will be the showcase of an unprecedented cultural display.
This year, the opening speech that will kick off the celebrations will be given by Antoni Falgueras, a master winemaker from Sants and the fourth generation at the helm of Celler de Gelida, a centenary shop founded in 1895 on Vallespir street.
The great international novelty of this edition will be the presence of Shanghai as Guest City, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the twinning between Barcelona and the Asian metropolis.
More than a hundred artists from both the Chinese city and the resident community in Catalonia will bring the creativity, music, street arts, and traditions of the so-called "Pearl of the Orient" to the different spaces of the festival.
