The Port of Barcelona was one of the last pieces to complete after JxCat's departure from the Government. ERC has chosen to put Lluís Salvadó, with a marked political profile, in charge. Deputy Secretary General of Internal Coordination of Esquerra and current deputy in the Parliament, Salvadó will assume the leadership of the Port Authority of Barcelona with the will to give continuity to the management of its until now president, Damià Calvet, who has highlighted from the year and a half he has held the position milestones such as attracting the America's Cup or the advances that have been achieved for the materialization of railway accesses.

The Government plans to approve this Tuesday in the Executive Council the appointment of the new president of the Port of Barcelona, which will need to receive the approval of the central Executive. "Salvadó has solvency in the field of management, both public and private," said the Minister of Territory and Sustainability at a press conference. The new president of the Port, with a degree in Industrial Engineering from the UPC and a postgraduate degree in Business Management from the UOC, has been mayor of la Ràpita and, since 2012, a member of Parliament, a position he must resign from to take charge of the port authority. He has also been Secretary of Finance of the Government between 2016 and 2017.

Recently, the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has opened oral proceedings against Salvadó, along with the Minister of Culture, Natàlia Garriga, and the president of ERC in the Parliament and also deputy, Josep Maria Jové, for their actions in the preparations for the 1-O referendum. Salvadó has been prosecuted for the crimes of disobedience, prevarication, embezzlement of public funds and revelation of secrets. On how the judicial case may affect the presidency of the Port, Salvadó has defended that he is "absolutely convinced" that the cases will fall. "I do not work with any calendar other than the one that is preferential and priority for the Port of Barcelona," he stressed.
