The Banco Sabadell Foundation renews its presidency. The doctor in History and Theory of Contemporary Art Miquel Molins leaves the position, which he has held since 2011, and will pass the baton to the also president of the banking entity, Josep Oliu. His appointment represents a reinforcement of Banco Sabadell's commitment to the objectives and activities of its foundation, established in 1994 and which works to promote culture, research, and young talent.
Molins concludes a 23-year journey in the Sabadell group, during which he has been president of the foundation and director of the Col·lecció Banc Sabadell, positions from which he has worked to bring contemporary art closer to the financial institution. Molins, who presides over the Fundació Eina, is an international reference in contemporary art.
His career also highlights his work as a professor at Escola Eina, Escola Massana, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Molins, who was director of Macba before his time at Sabadell, has also supervised theses for the Master Metrópolis at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), and was a visiting professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1994.
The contemporary art expert, who has curated several exhibitions and published essays, has worked at the head of the foundation to consolidate its cultural, scientific and educational project, also in the promotion of young and female talent. The entity will continue to advance in these lines now with Oliu as president, and with Sonia Mulero as director, after the board of trustees renewed her in the position.
