Iryo reinforces its commitment to the Spanish market by connecting Barcelona with Seville. The Italian railway operator will operate the new route starting on December 10 and will offer four frequencies a day, two outbound and two return, every day of the week. In total, it will offer more than 673,000 seats each year for this journey.

Iryo's route will last five hours and fifty minutes, and will have stops in Zaragoza, Madrid, Córdoba, and Seville, leaving Tarragona and Lleida behind. It will include the Tarragona capital in the summer season, with one of the daily frequencies making a stop.

Every day, trains will depart from Barcelona at 09:50 and 13:45, and will arrive in Seville at 15:36 and 19:39, respectively. For their part, those departing from the Andalusian capital will leave at 06:54 and 16:20, and will arrive at Sants station at 12:45 and 22:10.

The private company, owned by Trenitalia, Air Nostrum, and Globalvia, began operating in Spain in November last year, with the Barcelona and Madrid route, operated exclusively by Renfe until a few years ago and where the French low-cost Ouigo is now also present. While Ouigo competes on prices, Iryo does so on onboard services and with a completely new fleet.

A few days ago, Renfe precisely launched a promotion to travel by AVE between Catalonia and Andalusia. It did so after reinforcing its routes between Barcelona and Malaga, in this case with stops in Tarragona and Lleida, increasing from two daily services to four and adding 1,000 daily seats. These are complemented by the Barcelona-Córdoba-Seville route, with four daily trains, and the Barcelona-Córdoba-Granada route, with two. Renfe's offer, which ends this Friday, offers tickets from 30 euros for trips made from the end of this October and throughout 2024.
