Hac Te premieres the 'Art+Science+Technology' audiovisual series

In collaboration with The New Barcelona Post, four chapters will be published that will analyze the interrelationships between these three disciplines

The Hac Te hub has premiered the audiovisual series Art+Science+Technology, produced in collaboration with The New Barcelona Post, where creators, researchers, curators, teachers, and entrepreneurs reflect on the synergies between the three disciplines that form this alliance promoted by a dozen Catalan institutions to position the Catalan capital as a reference hub in artech. The capsules can be viewed on Hac Te's YouTube channel and in this new section we have opened in The New Barcelona Post.

The videos feature the participation of Hac Te's partners: the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Eina - University Center of Design and Art, Hangar - Center for Artistic Production and Research, TheNewArtFoundation, Sónar, Fira Barcelona, Tech Barcelona, the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO).

What does the presence of an artist contribute to a scientific center? What creative possibilities do science and technology offer? Can Barcelona become a reference in this field? These are some of the questions the series, made up of four pieces, aims to answer, with the goal of making the relationships between art, science, and technology and their impact in Catalonia easier to understand.

Each capsule addresses a theme to deepen these links. From collaborations between artists, scientists and technologists, to the way we face multidisciplinary challenges. The digital art ecosystem in Catalonia and the social and economic impact of digital culture are also valued.

The first video, which premiered this Wednesday, reflects on the need to provide transversal responses from the fields of arts, science and technology to contemporary challenges as complex as climate change or digital transformation. It features the participation of the artist and researcher resident at UPF, Albert Barqué-Duran; the head of data analysis and visualization at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center-Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS), Fernando Cucchietti; the outreach coordinator at ICFO, Lydia Sanmartí, and the director of Hangar, Anna Manubens.

Starting this Wednesday, the rest of the audiovisuals will premiere every week on the same day. On April 26, the chapter addressing collaborations will be published, with the participation of emeritus researcher at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine-BI Ernest Giralt; former UPC student Marc Gálvez; professor at the Barcelona School of Telecommunications Engineering of the UPC Ferran Marqués, and EINA professor and artist in residence at Melis-UPF Jo Milne.

The third video, available from May 3, analyzes and clarifies the concept of digital art and Barcelona's position in this discipline with UOC professor Irma Vilà; resident artist Pedro Torres; artist and UOC professor Joan Soler-Adillon; Hangar soft/hardware Lab technician Miguel Ángel de Heras, and the director of the NewArtFoundation, Vicente Matallana.

The last video will be published on Wednesday, May 10, and talks about the economic and social impact of digital culture in Catalonia. Participants include the curator of Sónar+D, Antònia Folguera; the CEO of Tech Barcelona, Miquel Martí, and the executive director of Hac Te, Astrid Rousse.
