The president of Foment del Treball, Josep Sánchez Llibre, yesterday called for the signing of two major institutional agreements to unblock two projects he considers strategic for Catalonia: the expansion of El Prat Airport and the presentation of the joint bid between Barcelona and the Pyrenees to host the 2030 Winter Olympic Games.
According to Sánchez Llibre, Foment will work to sign "a major agreement between the Government of Spain, the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Government of Aragon and the Barcelona City Council" and assures that he has already sought "complicities with the COE and the IOC" to ensure that "in the first quarter of 2022 the International Olympic Committee can officially designate that the winning bid for the 2030 Winter Olympic Games is Barcelona Pyrenees."
With the presence of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, Foment del Treball yesterday celebrated the institution's 250th anniversary, which brings together 295 territorial organizations and 85 sectoral organizations representing 250,000 companies. "Employers' associations do not pursue the defense of business profit alone; they pursue a society that progresses in all orders and is socially cohesive, because there is no economic progress without social cohesion," said Sánchez Llibre, at an event where editor Javier Godó was also honored.
