At Baco y Boca, we love "excuses" to discover and taste new places where gastronomy merges with the environment, where service pairs perfectly so that every bite tastes better. And Valentine's Day is one of those dates that gives us a great excuse.
But we like Valentine's Day not to be that day of impossible reservations, closed and senseless set menus, or hurried glasses of cava. We like February 14ths (a day up or a day down) that allow us to sit at tables that amaze us, surprise us, and turn that feast into something special and unforgettable.
Because romance is not made with fake candles, fabric petals, or pink desserts. Romance is built with consolidated atmospheres, and with silent complicities between the dining room and the kitchen. They understand that a special dinner doesn't need fireworks, but authenticity and good cuisine.
We have selected five restaurants in Barcelona to celebrate Valentine's Day, some with more originality, others with more sensuality, but in all of them, the table will be up to the occasion.
Arcano, where cuisine converses with the past
If walls could talk, in Arcano they would speak of deeds, of medieval knights and ladies. Because this restaurant in El Born preserves -almost intact- the arches and walls of ancient 17th-century stables, which gives the place an aura of innate, natural romanticism, available to enjoy 365 days a year.
A bucolic space full of history. Vestiges of the past that "converse" with the restaurant's cuisine. This dialogue is transferred to contemporary dishes that incorporate nods to medieval Catalan cuisine, reinterpreting ingredients or combinations already present in the "Llibre de Sent Soví", and which today can be savored in combinations as current as Cod in two cooking methods, with creamy trinxat, fig and almonds.

Mayura, a Bollywood love -and dishes-
Crossing the doors of Mayura is to immerse oneself in a refined India, with dim lights, carved woods and that enveloping atmosphere that invites time to stop. It is a romantic setting, of exotic elegance, where the beauty of the peacock —its emblem, Mayura is "peacock" in Sanskrit— is breathed in every corner, creating the perfect refuge for those seeking a Valentine's Day far from clichés.
This year, that ambient magic is elevated with a proposal that is pure feeling: the "Flavors of Love" menu. Inspired by the universe of Bollywood, Mayura transfers the epic of great Indian cinema love stories directly to the plate. From February 7 to 15, the restaurant offers a gastronomic script to share, where spices dance to the rhythm of the senses.
From the vibrant Chicken Tikka that evokes modern passions to the delicacy of coconut curry born of friendship, each recipe is a tribute to romance. An experience that culminates with the sweetness of saffron and roses, closing an evening where, as in the best films, love is the only protagonist.

Imprevisto, intimate author's cuisine
Imprevisto is a display of silent luxury in a beautiful and intimate space. Now located on Calle Mallorca, 308, the project maintains its essence intact: a close, reflective author's cuisine deeply linked to the product, where creativity never imposes itself above common sense.
Of course, as its name indicates, there can always be a delicious "imprevisto" (unexpected event). Because at Imprevisto you go to play and let yourself go, to be surprised and to fall in love with every bite.
The gastronomic proposal is built from the season and the market, with dishes that surprise more by nuance than by impact. There is technique, but it is at the service of emotion; there is risk, but always measured. A cuisine that reveals itself little by little, without needing to explain itself excessively.
Imprevisto is a restaurant for those who value coherence, sensitivity and the pleasure of letting themselves go.

Estimar, love for seafood product
In Estimar, Rafa Zafra has built his own discourse around the sea, far from artifice and excess. Here there are no fireworks or unnecessary speeches: there is exceptional product, absolute respect for the raw material and a way of cooking that understands that, when the produce is extraordinary, the best thing is not to hinder it.
Estimar's cuisine relies on fish and seafood but we pamper it with precision and sensitivity, that of the Sevillian chef. Exact cooking, measured dressings, techniques that accompany without imposing themselves. Each dish has a clear, direct, almost pedagogical reading, which allows the diner to understand what they are eating and why. It is an honest, transparent and deeply Mediterranean cuisine.
But in Estimar, one should not look for artifices even in the dining room, where everything happens naturally, without forced times or superfluous gestures. Eating at Estimar is sharing dishes, conversing, enjoying without haste.
Because Estimar is not just a fish restaurant, it is a way of reclaiming the value of the product, of the craft and of shared pleasure around the table. A place where luxury is measured in freshness, precision and authenticity. A place for lovers of seafood, of naturalness, but of exceptionality.

Via Veneto, timeless romanticism
Via Veneto does not need to reinvent itself because it has never ceased to be relevant. Founded in 1967, this restaurant is a rare bird in today's Barcelona: a place where time has not stopped, but has not given in to trends either. Here elegance is not an aesthetic gesture, it is a way of understanding gastronomy.
Its cuisine is an exercise in well-understood classicism. Exceptional product, precise technique and a contemporary reading that respects the essence without disguising it. Deep sauces, exact points, dishes that speak of craft and memory. Nothing is superfluous, nothing is missing. Eating at Via Veneto is remembering that haute cuisine can also be serene.
The service —discreet, attentive, perfectly oiled— is a fundamental part of the experience. There is a silent choreography in the room that allows everything to flow without interruptions, without exhibitionism, without urgency. Here the diner rules, not the clock.
Via Veneto is living history of Barcelona's gastronomy, but also present. A restaurant that understands that true luxury is not to surprise, but to offer consistency, respect and a hospitality that today seems almost revolutionary.
