In 2011, EsdeMercado was a pioneer in launching a portal specialized in the online sale of fresh products from the stalls of the different municipal markets of Barcelona. In this emerging business segment, accelerated by the coronavirus crisis, other companies such as Manzaning and Ulabox also operate and, recently, the Municipal Institute of Markets of Barcelona itself has also launched its own mobile application.

To boost its growth and gain size, EsdeMercado has just absorbed Frescabarna, another portal dedicated to the sale of fresh products from the different distributors in Mercabarna. According to EsdeMercado, this operation will allow the new company's turnover to rise to one million euros, compared to the 650,000 euros that EsdeMercado earned in 2019.
The company founded by Nacho Manent currently has agreements to provide online sales service to the stalls of the municipal markets of La Boquería, Sarrià and Mercat de Galvany. The portal has 70,000 registered users and also sells fresh products from about twenty producers in the province of Barcelona with the aim "of activating the local economy." According to Manent, "shopping habits have changed a lot" and for both small businesses and markets "online sales are a useful and necessary tool."
