Enrique Tomás enters mass consumption with Gallina Blanca

Gallina Blanca and Enrique Tomás have jointly created a chicken broth, and a ham broth. This was explained by Enrique Tomás, general director of the company based in Badalona, and the general manager of GB Foods, Josep Arcas, who have assured that their respective teams are exploring new possible alliances. 

The executives highlighted that, in the first 12 days since the product was launched, 80,000 bottles have been sold. They have practically reached a stockout, Arcas assured. The first batch of the new product is five million units. The new broth is made with the tip of the ham, and not with bone, as is usually done, Tomás pointed out. With this product, they aim to offer a broth "that connects more with the Spanish consumer," Arcas added. 

The launch of the new product has not required investment in adapting any production line, as it is produced in Gallina Blanca's factory in Extremadura without modifications. With this broth, the Enrique Tomás brand enters the mass consumption channel, while it represents a significant launch for Gallina Blanca because it is aimed at a premium segment. 

Arcas detailed that Gallina Blanca has 43% of the packaged broth market share, and that this market grows 6% annually, in a society where citizens usually do not have enough time to prepare their own broths. Packaged broths are in 60% of Spanish households, while 20% of the total broth consumed is packaged, so there is still room for growth.
