Changes in the leadership of Santander in Catalonia. The bank chaired by Ana Botín has appointed Eduard Miró as the new territorial director, replacing María José Macià, who had been in the position for just under three years.

A Law graduate from the University of Barcelona, Miró is 56 years old and has been linked to the financial group since 1995. At that time, he worked as an office director at Banesto and gained responsibilities in this now-defunct bank, becoming the zone director in Barcelona and, later, regional director of Banesto in the Balearic Islands, Castilla La Mancha, and also in Catalonia. He has developed his entire professional career in the banking sector, as before working at Banesto he did so at Bankpyme and Banca Jover. Since 2013, already at Banco Santander, he has been commercial director in Catalonia and, since this week, director of the territorial division. The entity highlights Miró's "extensive experience in team management, as well as his great commercial and client vision" thanks to this trajectory.

María José Macià now becomes the director in Spain of Santander Personal, the remote personalized management channel that Santander makes available to clients who prefer not to regularly visit a branch and prefer to interact with the bank through a digital manager whom they can contact via video calls, chat, email, or phone. Before leading the territorial division of Catalonia, Macià had been director of Santander in the Balearic Islands and commercial manager in Castilla La Mancha.
