Damm has negotiated with banks its first green loans or under the so-called ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) sustainable financing criteria. The brewing group has signed financing lines with Banco Sabadell, CaixaBank, Santander, and BBVA totaling 200 million euros, which allow it to renew its liability structure, in addition to linking it to the fulfillment of certain sustainability criteria.
Thus, interest rates and the availability of these banking resources will be linked to the achievement of certain objectives that contribute to minimizing the environmental impact of the group's activity and to the fulfillment of the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) established by the UN. The reduction of the weight of non-recoverable waste generated each year based on the hectoliters produced and the increase in the production of green energy for self-consumption from the company's production centers will be two of the parameters that condition this financing.
According to the group chaired by Demetrio Carceller, Damm is currently the national brewer with the greatest capacity for generating energy for self-consumption. Investments made in recent years have allowed the company to have self-consumption solar installations in its factories and to promote an innovative project for generating electricity for its self-consumption from biogas generated during wastewater treatment.
