Cooltra strengthens its position in Italy. The mobility company has brought its shared electric bicycles for minutes to Turin, starting operations this June with 140 bikes and with the goal of reaching 500 in the coming months. This is the second European city where it will launch a model that it began testing in Barcelona in the summer of 2020 and has registered 300,000 rentals over these three years.
It is not the first time that the company led by Timo Buetefisch has set foot in this northern Italian city, where it exported its motosharing service last February with 400 electric motorcycles. Cooltra has also been present in Milan and Rome with its electric motorcycles for six years.
While its bikes can only be found in Barcelona and Turin, its motorcycles circulate in eight European capitals. Not counting the company's city of origin, Barcelona, nor the Italian ones, Madrid, Valencia, Lisbon, and Paris must be added.
The company closed a 25 million euro round at the end of last year to advance its European expansion, bringing its vehicle rental model for companies to Poland and Germany. The capital increase raised the resources captured in the various financing rounds it has raised since 2006 to 100 million euros.
All in all, the company registered a turnover of 47 million euros in 2022, 48% more than the previous year. With its two business lines, both the rental of electric bikes and motorcycles to individuals and the rental of vehicles to companies and administrations, Cooltra has a fleet of 20,000 vehicles and more than 100 rental points. The first leg, with clients such as Just Eat, Getir, Glovo, Wallbox, and Seprona, brought in revenues of 26 million euros in 2022, 42% more than the previous year thanks to the boom in home delivery, while the second, 20.8 million euros, 55% more. The workforce stands at 400 employees.
