Concerts on Gaudí's rooftops with cava, rhythm, and the best views

Can you imagine enjoying a summer night in one of Gaudí's most emblematic buildings, with a glass of cava in hand and live music? Well, stop imagining because this is what you can do both on the rooftop of Casa Batlló and on the rooftop of La Pedrera. The two modernist monuments are once again filled with musical proposals ranging from jazz to bossa nova, passing through pop or Catalan rumba. A unique opportunity to enjoy a complete experience that begins with a visit to the monument and ends with an open-air concert with the best views.

Magic Nights at Casa Batlló 2026

From July 1 to August 31, 2026, Antoni Gaudí's masterpiece opens its doors to a new edition of Magic Nights. The two-hour experience begins at 8:00 p.m. with an exclusive visit to the interior of Casa Batlló, continues on the Main Floor, where a toast with a glass of cava is offered, and ends on the rooftop where at 9:00 p.m. a live concert begins under the city sky.

This year's lineup features very diverse styles, but one of the big names of this edition is La Mercabanda, the female quartet formed by Maria la Blanco, Magalí Datzira, Glòria Maurel and Joina Canyet. Artistically born to set the rhythm as the resident band of the renowned TV3 late show Zona Franca, these four instrumentalists have shown such intense synergy that they have started their tour; in fact, they recently played in Barcelona for La Fiesta del Tour. Their concert at the Terrat del Drac (the rooftop of Casa Batlló) will be a four-way battle where they will link one hit after another mixing pop, disco, black music and rumba.

But if you prefer a night with a more tropical and sophisticated touch, nothing better than going to enjoy the Compañía Eléctrica Panamericana. Their live show is a round trip ticket that takes us from New York to Rio de Janeiro, passing through Havana and Los Angeles. The band pays tribute to a golden century of American music, with songs from Pérez Prado to the eternal Ella Fitzgerald or Nat King Cole. A proposal that fuses jazz, mambo, bolero and swing with very fresh and original electronic touches.

The Catalan and Mediterranean identity also has an important weight in this summer's program, as is the example of La Mar de Rumba, the project led by David Torras. Although the Catalan rumba of Peret or el Pescadilla is their starting point, the band does not hesitate to cross borders to mix with bossa nova, bolero, and jazz fusion, taking as a mirror references such as the Gipsy Kings or Sílvia Pérez Cruz.

For his part, the Barcelona singer-songwriter Roger Padrós opts for a more intimate and acoustic concert on the rooftop. Known to the general public after his participation in the talent show La Voz, Padrós will offer a performance supported only by his voice, piano, and guitar. His proposal, baptized as Pop Essentials, travels through the great themes of international pop, covering songs by Coldplay, Harry Styles, or Bruno Mars.

The cast of artists who will perform on the Terrat del Drac stage during these two months is designed so that each night is a completely new experience. In addition to these groups we have just mentioned, we will also be able to enjoy the most authentic funk, soul, and R&B from Alex Dee, Audrey, Gigi McFarlane, Monica Guech and the energy of Vicky Branch with the best of the Motown factory.

The folk-rock of Cesc Sansalvadó and the flamenco guitar of Luna Llena will offer a tribute to the master Paco de Lucía. The classic rock covers of Fakers, the rhythms of Mezcla de Sabores (salsa and boleros), the rumba duo of Muchacho y Toni Cayena, and the rooted elegance of Lexter, Summer Lovers or Nika Mills Trio.

The future of jazz rises with Talents Jazz 2026

Until July 31, 2026, the rooftop of La Pedrera hosts a new edition of Talents Jazz, the cycle organized by the Fundación Catalunya La Pedrera that has already consolidated itself as an essential part of Barcelona's summer nights. The event takes place every Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (with concerts starting at 8:45 p.m.), and offers an experience that unites heritage, architecture, and the jazz music of young talents.

The most outstanding fact of this 2026 is the step forward that the festival has taken in its commitment to local talent. For the first time in the history of the cycle, the Big Band Talents Jazz has been created, an unprecedented formation made up exclusively of students from three major musical institutions: the Conservatori del Liceu, the Taller de Músics Escola Superior d'Estudis Musicals (ESEM) and the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC).

This Big Band is jointly led by three great names in jazz pedagogy and performance in Catalonia: Irene Reig (ESMUC), Oriol Vallés (Taller de Músics ESEM) and Sergi Vergés (Conservatori del Liceu), a three-way direction that allows young artists to move through different styles and languages. The result is a lineup of eleven concerts where contemporary creation and respect for tradition go hand in hand.

The July 2026 program offers a lineup with five essential events for jazz lovers. On July 3, pianist and composer Maite Ruiz will star in a contemporary jazz concert born from the collaboration of the Musika Bulegoa residency and the Taller de Músics ESEM. On July 10, directly from the classrooms of ESMUC comes JD Group, a formation that demonstrates the technical solidity and creative freedom of the new generation of the Catalan higher school.

July 17 will be one of the most anticipated nights of the season, as it will feature a live performance by saxophonist Edu Cabello, awarded the Young Talent Award 2026 by the Associació de Músics de Jazz i Música Moderna de Catalunya (AMJM). On Friday, July 24, the rhythm and personality of Ms. Floristan will fill the rooftop in a session sponsored and selected by the Taller de Músics ESEM. And, on July 31, the Barcino Quartet, from the Conservatori del Liceu, will be in charge of closing this eighth and historic edition of Talents Jazz, a formation that will close this summer cycle at La Pedrera with elegance, swing and a great live performance.

This year, in Barcelona we are celebrating the Gaudí Year and, what better way to do it than with these concerts in his most emblematic monuments? Casa Batlló and La Pedrera become improvised stages to host events that celebrate architecture, music and summer in Barcelona.
