Barcelona hosts the America's Cup with the aim that the competition leaves a legacy in the city that transcends the regatta. This purpose extends to multiple areas, including connectivity. In this regard, Cellnex has deployed a multi-operator mobile coverage solution on the Barcelona seafront to provide 5G coverage and reinforce it along 3.5 kilometers of the city's coastline, from Sant Sebastià beach to Mar Bella beach, passing through the beaches of Sant Miquel, Barceloneta, Somorrostro, Nova Icària, and Bogatell.

The infrastructure has been deployed for the America's Cup, but it has been designed to remain permanently installed after the nautical competition, which will end on October 27.

Cellnex, positioned as the largest European operator of telecommunications towers and infrastructures, has installed a system of mini antennas ---known as DAS, for Distributed Antenna Systems--- on physical elements and urban furniture available to the City Council on the city's beaches.

These DAS systems allow "to reinforce the connectivity of any mobile operator in areas with high traffic and concentration of people such as the Barcelona coastline," as highlighted by the Commercial Director of Public Administrations of Cellnex Spain, Marta Rubí.

Cellnex is also deploying these solutions in urban centers and spaces such as stadiums, shopping centers, large buildings, metro networks and stations, among other locations.

The operator, which manages a portfolio of more than 138,000 sites in 12 countries, deploys this type of solutions with the aim of expanding and densifying network capacity, "so that citizens can have good connectivity at all times."
