The insurer Catalana Occidente has invested 5.3 million euros in the construction of a building in Sant Quirze del Vallès (Barcelona) where it has relocated the activity and personnel dedicated to the group's logistics, printing, and document archiving areas. These tasks were carried out in the central offices of Sant Cugat del Vallès, as well as in other office spaces of the company.
Catalana Occidente will optimize the areas it has freed up in the corporate headquarters offices to deepen the transformation of its work environments and the improvement of productivity, efficiency, and collaboration among the company's work teams, at a time when it is applying a hybrid teleworking model. With the changes, greater flexibility can be offered to employees, optimizing spaces and taking advantage to enhance the benefits provided by new technologies, as explained by the company.
The new building, of almost 5,000 square meters of surface area, is distributed over two floors. In the lower area, there is an office space and the printing and logistics center, for parcel services and others. The upper floor houses the warehouse area and an office with document management service, which includes a meeting room. The building also houses the document archive area for the entire group, with 21,000 linear meters (2,000 square meters) for document registration and custody. Likewise, the warehouse, which has direct access to the C-58 highway, has 50 parking spaces for cars, for bicycles, and a charging area for electric and hybrid vehicles.
According to the insurer, the construction of the building, named Stock, reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, as it has been designed with energy efficiency in mind and also to be environmentally responsible.
The facility has the Leed Gold seal, a recognition granted by the US Green Building Council for sustainable buildings. In this regard, it has a 100 kW photovoltaic installation that supplies the energy demand of one-third of the building; intelligent technology for the management and control of lighting and air conditioning, and an innovative security system (access control via smartphone and video surveillance).
