Bonus Cultura: 40 euros in culture, paying only 30, in the city of Barcelona

Last week I went to La Villarroel to seeThe dogs. Possibly, you will have noticed the posters that announce it because they attract a lot of attention. In them appears a group of dogs of various breeds sitting on a sofa, as if they were a family in front of the TV. Mercè Arànega, Sandra Monclús, Albert Pérez and Joan Negrié are the performers of this theatrical production that has opened the season at La Villarroel, closed since March. Written and directed by the Argentine Nelson Valente, it is an acidic comedy about family relationships with scenes that, let's admit it, can be more or less close to all of us. Go. You will laugh until you realize that you are laughing at yourselves or perhaps, precisely, because of that. [subscribe_newsletter_esp] I also attended Qlit --literature festivalqueer of the EFTA--, specifically to the session dedicated to the work of the late writer David Vilaseca, professor of Hispanic studies and literary criticism at Royal Holloway College, University of London. Upon leaving, I went straight to La Calders to buyMen and Days.Complete Narrative Work, a volume edited by L'Altra Editorial that collectsThe learning of solitude, the first part of his diaries that, in fact, I already read more than ten years ago, andThe injured child, its continuation, published posthumously after his premature death in a traffic accident.
Go see Els Gossos at La Villarroel. You will laugh until you realize that you are laughing at yourselves or perhaps, precisely, because of that.
Finally, last week, I also went to Palau Robert to see the exhibitionThe Transition, seen by Carlos Bosch. I don't whisper, I shout, in which there are some anthological images of the era that are very much worth seeing, and I also stopped by the successfulYou had to be a feminist, curated by Nazaret Farré. This autumn, Barcelona, despite everything --for months now, this "despite everything" essentially means, despite Covid-19--, has a fantastic cultural offer in theaters, concert halls, museums, but also in cinemas and bookstores. For the moment, the worst omens have not been fulfilled. That is, that the demand crisis caused first by the closure of businesses and confinement of the population and, later, by the reduction of capacity and other prevention measures, leads to a supply crisis and, therefore, a creativity crisis. But the danger has not passed and it is more important than ever that we consume culture again if we do not want the problem to worsen severely.

Precisely, to encourage cultural consumption and help the city's cultural and creative industries weather the storm --130,000 jobs depend on them--, this summer the Bonus Cultura has been launched, an initiative promoted by five entities from the cultural sector (ADETCA, ASACC, Cambra del Llibre de Catalunya, Gremi de Cinemes de Catalunya and Gremi de Llibreters de Catalunya), with the support of the Barcelona City Council.

The first deputy mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, and councilor Xavier Marcé at the presentation of the Bonus Cultura.
It is a cultural pass, valid in all cultural establishments and spaces in Barcelona for the purchase of books, cinema tickets, performing arts shows, and concerts.200,000 have been put into circulation, meaning that it seeks to have a real impact on the sector. The Culture Bonus has a value of 40 euros, but, pay attention, here is part of the appeal of the initiative: the user, whether from Barcelona or not, pays only 30 euros and the Barcelona City Council adds 10 more. But also, you can buy as many as you want and, if applicable, accumulate them in the same purchase. That is, the more cultural spending is done through the Culture Bonus, the greater the savings.

The Barcelona Culture Bonus is acquired atbonuscultura.com/barcelonaand is valid for purchases made until December 31. Therefore, we are still in time to buy it and, for example, use it to give culture this Christmas and thus, instead of having to listen to how the father-in-law recites again the names of all the dogs he has had throughout his life --go to La Villarroel and you will know what I'm talking about--, we can talk about theater, music and books!
