The Catalan capital will host, between October 5 and 8, the second edition of Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW), which this year will also be held from the emblematic building of the Old Estrella Damm Factory. The historic complex on Rosselló street is the chosen setting to develop and broadcast in streaming the activities linked to the logistics sector, one of the ten thematic axes that this hybrid event will address, conceived to position Barcelona as a key player in economic recovery and in the development of industry 4.0 in the post-covid era.
At the Old Estrella Damm Factory, BNEW Logistics will host debates around key topics such as the challenges of last-mile logistics, the balance between new consumption patterns and sustainability, problems derived from the saturation of large port infrastructures, or the effects of the trade war between the United States and China.
"We are very happy that BNEW Logistics is being held this year at the Old Factory, not only because of our link with the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, but also because logistics is key in our company and it is a sector that is currently undergoing a very notable transformation," said Damm's general director, Jorge Villavecchia, during the signing of the collaboration agreement with the CZFB.
"Damm is a great reference in Barcelona's culture and we are proud to be able to incorporate the emblematic Old Estrella Damm Factory into BNEW and that, in addition, it will be the headquarters of BNEW Logistics, a sector that the brand itself knows well and that for the Consorci plays a decisive role in the development of the new economy," said the special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro.
The use of the Damm complex as one of the sets will be one of the novelties of this edition of BNEW, which will also premiere La Pedrera and the Roca Gallery center as venues. These three spaces will be joined by the three locations already used in 2020: Estación de Francia, Casa Seat, and the Movistar Center in Plaça Catalunya.
In this second edition, the CZFB has wanted to reinforce its commitment to turn BNEW into a global benchmark economic event and has doubled its themes compared to 2020. Thus, to the five verticals of 2020 (Logistics, Digital Industry, Ecommerce, Economic Zones and Real Estate) this year others with a more transversal approach are added, always under the umbrella of the new economy: Mobility, Sustainable, Talent, Science and City. In the same vein, the organization goes from the 389 speakers of the previous edition to the 800 of BNEW 2021.
The meeting is 100% professional and it is expected that the more than 11,000 users registered in the first edition, from more than one hundred countries, will be "far exceeded". Registrations for the event, completely free, are already open. In this way, the CZFB wants to show its commitment to companies and its interest in working on economic reactivation, trusting to be able to reach all types of companies to help the business fabric worldwide to face the challenges posed by the new economy.
