Barcelona triumphs in Silicon Valley

In September, it will be two years since Silicon Valley residents have been enjoying a restaurant that, since it opened, leaves no one indifferent: Telefèric Barcelona in Palo Alto

may 01, 2021 - 20:20

With the Barcelona brand as its flag, this restaurant has become famous in Palo Alto and the rest of the San Francisco Bay Area for its tapas, its cocktail-style sangrias, its varied paellas, its avant-garde Galician-style octopus, and its torrija; in addition to its friendly, young, and smiling staff. Although the COVID-19 pandemic broke out a few months after its opening, Telefèric Barcelona in Palo Alto managed to reinvent itself by launching a powerful delivery and take-away service, to bring its paellas to the homes and backyards of tech company workers in the area, which helped them grow and consolidate their brand and reputation.

Once the regulations of the state of California and Santa Clara County allowed it, Telefèric immediately took its tables out to the street and, with the help of good heaters, managed to remain the restaurant on everyone's lips. Thus, the Barcelona brand is enjoying a peak moment in Palo Alto; as everyone has been, or wants to go, to Telefèric Barcelona.

At Telefèric in Palo Alto, the staff also speaks Catalan; something that makes all Catalans settled in the area for studies or work feel at home, who, due to the pandemic, have faced great difficulties in visiting their homeland.

With authentic delicacies such as garlic prawns, gazpacho, croquettes, or patatas bravas, Telefèric has managed to find the balance between tradition and modernity; without neglecting the particular tastes of the American public.

The New Barcelona Post has spoken with its owners, Xavier Padrosa and Maria Padrosa, who told us about their beginnings and their work philosophy: "Telefèric is a family brand with a lot of history, backed by more than 26 years of experience in the sector. Our journey began in the early nineties in a small place in the center of Sant Cugat, which was the cradle of the first pintxos and tapas in Barcelona (at that time there were no pintxos restaurants in the city yet). The success was such that years later we decided to open another one in the center of Barcelona, in the Eixample area. Product quality is the basis of all our pintxos and tapas, we always try to work with local products and products imported from the Basque Country to continue marking our origin in our offer."

"The service ---add the Padrosas--- and making the client feel at home is our legacy; at Telefèric, you don't just come to eat, but to live a unique experience, and that not only involves what's on the plate but how you are received from the moment you walk through the door; we manage to transmit that family spirit to our waiters so that they do the same with our clients. A few years later, we decided to cross the pond and opened in San Francisco, California."

But the Palo Alto restaurant is not the only one this group has in the San Francisco Bay Area. Telefèric in Walnut Creek, also in the Bay, was awarded the prize for the best restaurant in the city in 2016, and was included in the ranking of the top 10 restaurants in the United States for its interior design.

"We have always been driven by enthusiasm... the enthusiasm to create, the enthusiasm to excite our clients, that is our great reason for being and the reason why we undertake each and every one of our projects! We invite you to learn about our history, be part of our present and why not, to also coincide in the future!", conclude the owners of Telefèric.

Given the success of these two establishments; the group does not rule out opening new restaurants in California, something that is undoubtedly great news for the Barcelona brand.
