The Fundació Barcelona Cultura details and specifies the steps to advance towards its objective of reaffirming the city as a cultural reference at a European level. The entity, which in April opened a new stage with the incorporation of new members to its board of trustees, has designed a strategy to take firm steps in this direction, which it specifies in its Strategic Plan 2025-2027.
With this roadmap, the foundation wants to consolidate Barcelona as a cultural hub of international reference. The plan is designed to facilitate "that public-private collaboration in the world of culture develops its full potential and allows supporting new or existing projects that are strategic in the current and future cultural context of the city," highlighted its mayor, Jaume Collboni.
This Strategic Plan is committed to promoting the international visibility of the city and also sponsorship, for which it proposes new financing mechanisms. In addition, it launches concrete proposals such as the management of the Special Fund of the Monastery of Pedralbes, where the foundation has precisely met, to continue advancing in its restoration.
The foundation, created in 2004, was promoted with the purpose of stimulating and channeling public-private collaboration in the cultural field, to face the challenge of taking a leap in scale in promoting projects linked to culture and creative industries of the Catalan capital.
With this objective in mind, the foundation is emerging as a "fundamental tool" to unite forces and focus them on the common goal of consolidating Barcelona as an international reference in this field, added Collboni: "We are witnessing a cultural rebirth of the city."
