Five years and more than 110,000 spectators have passed, since its journey began, through Barcelona Districte Cultural, this stable circuit of professional shows that emphasizes the city's Civic Centers to turn them into active cultural agents. Its tenth edition kicks off at the beginning of October to extend until the end of the year with a program that grows and expands to 32 facilities in 10 districts, despite the adaptation suffered with the pandemic, which has forced them to reduce capacity. But not even the confinement stopped the circuit, which remained active through social networks and brought cultural and creative proposals to the homes of citizens.
In this new edition, a total of 236 performances are already planned, including shows and complementary activities, in addition to the sessions programmed for the school audience. The BDC offers both creative shows by renowned artists and by young artists who are making a name for themselves, thus offering a heterogeneity of proposals that cover all audiences, some of which have already been presented on European stages. Participating artists also offer complementary activities, such as talks or workshops, and tickets are expected to be free, although, as always, they will have to be reserved in advance.
The objective of this circuit is to bring culture closer to citizens as well as for citizens themselves to approach culture, which is why this proximity cycle organized by the Barcelona Institute of Culture focuses on supporting local talent while creating new public spaces to keep this link with the citizenry strong, encompassing theater, music, dance, circus and cinema, as well as other community creation projects in the city's neighborhoods.
A total of 236 performances, including shows and complementary activities, in addition to the sessions programmed for the school audienceThere will be 39 live performance proposals, with ten theater productions, ten concerts, seven dance pieces, and two circus acts. And we will also have cinematographic proposals, with the titles that are part of the Petit Cineclub and the cycle of musical documentaries organized in collaboration with the In-Edit Festival. This year, in addition, three new local cultural facilities are added, such as Casa Groga and Guinardó, in the Horta-Guinardó neighborhood, and Trinitat Vella, in the Sant Andreu neighborhood, thus reaching 32 spaces. An unstoppable network of culture that responds to the will of Barcelona's Cultural Rights Plan to bring cultural programming to all territories of the city.
