A graduate in Visual Communication from the University of Buenos Aires, Juan Montenegro has been based in Barcelona for over three decades, where he has established himself as one of the leading designers and art directors in the city's cultural scene. Specializing in editorial design and creative direction, he has developed a multitude of projects, both on his own initiative and for studios, brands, and institutions.
His most emblematic achievement came in 1999 with the creation of B-Guided, the bilingual quarterly publication dedicated to Barcelona's contemporary culture, which he co-founded and where he has served as editor-in-chief and art director. With an innovative visual concept and meticulous book-like production, the magazine not only established itself as an absolute benchmark in the sector but also earned him the Ciutat de Barcelona Design Award in 2001 for its ability to influence independent and commercial publishing.
Aside from his editorial work, Montenegro has combined professional practice with teaching and dissemination at schools such as Elisava or IDEP, in addition to participating as a jury member, curator, and speaker at design, fashion, and contemporary culture events throughout Europe.
