Joan Puigcercós
My name is Joan Puigcercós Boixassa and I was born in 1966 in a town, Ripoll, which has never believed in mystics or great captains. For twenty-three years I have lived in Sants, essentially a town very similar to Ripoll, with children playing and old people waiting. At seventeen I suddenly woke up when I had to leave the lands of Comte Arnau to land at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona to study Philosophy and then Political Science. I finished neither one nor the other, as I complicated my life with La Crida la Solidaritat and Esquerra Republicana. In time I ended up becoming Secretary General and President of this party from 2004 to 2011, Deputy in Catalonia and Spain from 1992 to 2012 and Minister of Governance. In 2012, active politics and I agreed on an amicable, civilized divorce. And I became part of what we call the private sector. With multiple jobs, I dedicate most of my day to being the Executive Director of the School of New Interactive Technologies (ENTIDAD-UB), the first university for training video game and applied game professionals in Catalonia. Partner of Foreignrest, a company dedicated to consulting in the field of tourism and especially restoration, and President of the Advisory Board of Aigües de Catalunya. I am one of those who believe that the capital of Catalonia has everything to become an international benchmark in health, food and technology, that tourism is a first-rate economic and cultural engine and that the Palau de la Música is the most beautiful building of all those that are made and unmade.
