Javier Reverte studied philosophy and journalism. He worked as a journalist for almost 30 years, working as a press correspondent in London (1971-1973), Paris (1973-1977), and Lisbon (1978) and as a special envoy in numerous countries around the world. Javier Reverte has also worked as a columnist, political chronicler, interviewer, editorial writer, desk chief editor, reporter for the TVE program En_Portada, and deputy director of the defunct newspaper Pueblo. Always attracted by literary creation, he has worked as a radio and television scriptwriter and has written novels, poetry collections, and travel books. He is the brother of journalist and historian Jorge Martínez Reverte.
