New edition of the annual awards presented by the Sport Cultura Barcelona association to prominent figures from the world of sport and culture. The entity, chaired by Albert Agustí, has this year honored soccer player Alexia Putellas, in the Sport category; painter Antonio López, in the Culture category; and tenor Josep Carreras, in the Best Career category. The awards were presented this Monday at the headquarters of the RBA Foundation, with the presence of Carreras and López. Putellas was unable to attend and the award was collected on her behalf by Xavier Puig, FC Barcelona executive and head of women's football. Considered the best player in the world and winner of the 2021 Ballon d'Or in the women's category, Putellas was also presented this Monday as the new brand ambassador for the Catalan cosmetic laboratory MartiDerm and the star of the advertising campaignPut yourself in your Skin.At the Sport Cultura awards ceremony, cultural, sports, and institutional personalities attended, such as Alejandro Blanco, president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, who visited Barcelona just on the day it became known that the COE will not finally present a joint bid between Catalonia and Aragon for the 2030 Winter Olympics. After receiving the award, Xavier Puig explained that for Alexia "it means a lot" and stressed that, surely this award would be partly for all those with whom she has played these years, for her coaches, for the club's directors "and of course, the fans." He also pointed out that women's football is "a strategic section that must advance further, with a style of play that Johann Cruyff provided us, but also at a social level to build a better society, with gender equality, a fundamental element for society and the world to improve."

For his part, Antonio López stated that "he had wanted to paint Barcelona for a very long time and when someone came they guided me through spaces from where to paint and I found two wonderful ones: the exit of the MNAC and Park Güell." Finally, Josep Carreras remarked that "a recognition of this type awarded at home is more endearing." In addition, he pointed out that "it would not be fair if I were not proud of my career, but I am also proud of my fight against leukemia to ensure that one day it will be a 100% curable disease."

Sport Cultura Barcelona, which now has 45 full members, was founded in 2004 with the mission of fostering dialogue and understanding between institutions, citizens, and social agents and with the motto that "sport and culture make better people, and better people build better societies."
